Fishing trip with U.S. soldiers in Minnesota.

Last day- Mall of America

Here is a list of a few things that your donations made possible:

  • 7 RT tickets from Latvia to Denver
  • 7 RT tickets from Denver to Minneapolis
  • 7 Tickets to the Reunion Ball
  • 3 rooms at the resort where the ball was held
  • $700.00 spending money for each family
  • 2 parties held in Colorado Springs and Minneapolis
  • Car Rentals
  • Cell phones to be used in U.S.
  • 3 Hotel rooms in Denver the night before departure back to Latvia

There are so many people that made this trip possible. There are a few I need to mention here.

Colorado soldiers and their families- without you this would never have taken place. Hosting the Latvians in your homes, sharing your photos, planning the party (thanks Rose Francis) and recognizing what truly good people the Latvians are

Girts Jatnieks and Aiji Vijums- My Minnesota/Latvia connection, they spread the word, raised more money then I ever thought possible and supported me whenever I needed it

Mark Vijums- Arranged for an Air Force flight from Colorado Springs to Minnesota so U.S. soldiers could join the Latvians for a fishing trip at no cost

Peter Palmer- The Mn fishing trip was Pete's idea. He provided his cabin, boats, bait, food, and time. I heard more then once from those who were there- "this has been one of the best weekends of my life"  Pete also planted 8 trees on his property in rememberance of the 8 fallen heroes. Pete is a true patriot.

Mark Seavey and Tom Rasmussun both of the American Legion for sending sizable donations.

VFW Post 3917  in Security Colorado and American Legion Post 435 in Richfeild Mn for providing venues for parties at no cost.

Each person that gave money, wrote or said words of encouragement,  gave me ideas, helped where I needed it- really- too many to thank!

Another example of the blessings that have come my way:

Hello Mary,

My son, Spc. Stephan L. Mace, was one of the fallen soldiers from 10/3.  I know Stephan was very fond of the Latvian soldiers.  He loved their sense of humor and the fact that they were always ready to help when needed. .   I want people to remember his sacrifice and it helps America appreciate what these young men do for us.  I will be sending a donation in Stephan's name.  I know he would have loved to have been able to hang out with them in America.
